Giles

Curbed.com reports that Larry Giles still has plans to build a museum for architectural antiques in St. Louis and that Giles believes his collection of building ornament is the largest. A plan that has been decades in the making, Giles’ collection now includes more than 300,000 items packed in nearly 1,500-plus wooden crates stored inside industrial buildings

in nearby Illinois.

Curbed quotes Giles as saying, “It’s a big collection, without a doubt, the largest that I’m aware of, and the idea was to develop it as a comprehensive study collection.”

Giles’ collection filled 650 semi trailers when it was moved to the property he bought where the items are stored today.
